Chicago’s busiest art couple is shaping the city one project at a time

Meet Edra Soto and Dan Sullivan. From EXPO and museums to ‘The Bear,’ it’s hard to find Chicago cultural landscapes that their work hasn’t touched.

EXPO Chicago exerts a gravitational pull on the spring art scene, drawing significant international dealers, artists and collectors to the city and prompting a fresh wave of activity at local galleries and other cultural spaces.

It also proves a busy moment for the creative and romantic duo Edra Soto and Dan Sullivan. Currently, the Chicago pair — who reside in East Garfield Park and run a backyard gallery there — are working on about a dozen projects. Blending architecture, design, sculpture and installation across two distinct practices, it is hard to find a part of Chicago’s cultural landscape that their work hasn’t touched, from the grounds of the Chicago Botanic Gardens and Millennium Park to the newly opened National Public Housing Museum, the interior of the huge music venue the Salt Shed and the set of the hit television series The Bear.
